Meet Head Coach Amber Jones
Amber is a 4th Degree Black Belt in Judo and a Brown Belt in BJJ. She also carries an international coaching certification through USA Judo/IOC. Amber is a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and is currently serving in the MO National Guard. She has years of experience in USMC Martial Arts Program, MMA, BJJ and Judo. She has been in judo since 2001, after starting at the University of Kansas Judo Club. She quickly rose in the sport placing 3rd in the collegiate nationals just a few years after starting. She has since traveled the world competing in all levels of competition. Some of her judo and jiujitsu accomplishments include being a 2x national bronze medalist, 4x National Masters Champion, a World Masters Championship Silver medalist, 4x TN State Champion, 2x NC State Champion, 3x MO State Champion, NAGA champion in both gi and no-gi, IBJJF Open silver medalist, fought and won in Shamrock FC 272 and FC283, the Head Coach of the Armed Forces Judo team and so much more. She has attended training camps across the world and continues to grow and learn in all sports. Her highest Judo national ranking achieved was 3rd. She is also one of the only area coaches recognized as completing the USA SafeSport Training (to be certified to coach kids) and Concussion Training along with first aid certifications.
Meet Coach Gil Pagan
Gil is an assistant Judo coach. He is also a Marine Corps and Army Veteran. He is a Shodan , 1st degree black belt in Judo. He has been with the club for over 5 years now and has studied judo, boxing, bjj, and krav maga over the years.
Gil is a purple belt in BJJ from Memphis (through Steven Combs/Jay Page). He recently completed his State Coaching Certification through USA Judo. |
Meet Assistant Coach Ethan Elliott
Ethan is a very experienced grappler. He has been with J3 for almost 6 yrs now and is a purple belt in BJJ and a Nikyu (2nd Brown) in Judo. He is the assistant kids instructor and he leads when the primary instructor is out of town for both Judo and BJJ. Coach Ethan is also certified through the USA SafeSport Program to coach kids.
