JUDO
◌ What is Judo? Judo is a modern martial art, combat and Olympic sport created in Japan in 1882 by Dr. Jigoro Kano. It is predominately a combat sport that is comprised of throwing your opponent to the ground and subdue them with a pin, arm bar or choke. This sport has been slowly gaining in popularity in the United States and is the number two most participated sport in the world. Judo was first included into the Summer Olympic Games in 1964 and in 1988 women were included as a demonstration sport until 1992.
◌ Who Can do Judo? One of the great things about Judo is that anybody can do Judo. Men, Women, Children (over the age of 5), the Elderly, and the Disabled. ◌ What are the Benefits of Judo? There are a wide variety of benefits received from practicing Judo. Practicing Judo teaches and instills Confidence, Discipline, Self-Defense, and Physical Fitness to name a few. |
